We follow the exciting last two months before the arrest of Hanssen as a spy young FBI trainee on it.
Chris Cooper plays Hanssen convincing as a cold heart, homophobe traitor with a penchant for pornography. Dedicated (at least in appearance) to his wife, family and religion in secret selling secrets to the Russians in revenge for their managers and employees who do not appreciate their hard work and impressive skills. A student eager to please seeks to be promoted to agent, Eric O’Neill (Ryan Phillippe) is assigned to work as a clerk for Hanssen, monitoring activities of the agency, the suspect of criminal activity, but needs more evidence to conviction. While assigned to Hanssen because of their technological skills, O’Neill is concerned that similar religious experience into account in the decision. Hanssen strives to recruit and convert foreign O’Neill and religious practices of the young.
Cooper did an amazing job of anger and arrogance in an exterior that reveals very knowledgeable and pious.
